Can someone explain how the Slicer functionality differs from standard filters? I’m trying to decide which one to use for my sales dashboard.

Slicers and standard filters in Lumenore both help refine data, but they differ in how they are used and the level at which they operate.
Standard filters are typically used at the dashboard level. They allow consistent filtering across multiple KPIs and charts and support options like single select, multi-select, slider, and date range. Features such as sorting, default or top value selection, cascading, and priority control make them ideal for setting a common context (for example, filtering the entire dashboard by date, region, or category).
Slicers, on the other hand, are more interactive and visual, and are applied at the chart level. They are added as dashboard elements (cards) and allow filtering specific visuals using UI options like checklist, dropdown, or titles. Slicers also support “Select All” and cascading, and are designed to make interaction more intuitive for end users.
In simple terms, filters provide centralized control across the dashboard, while slicers offer flexible, user-friendly interaction within specific charts.
For a sales dashboard, a combination of both works best-use filters for global controls like date or region, and slicers for more interactive exploration such as product category or customer segment.
